York School Scores a Hat Trick Across Three Different School Awards
A York school is celebrating a series of prestigious award nominations across three different school awards. Queen Ethelburga's has secured four finalist spots and five highly commended accolades.
Finalist for the TES School Awards
First, the TES School Awards announced Queen Ethelburga's as a finalist in the Boarding School of the Year category. TES School Awards celebrate the most outstanding individuals and institutions in the education sector. Being shortlisted for the Boarding School of the Year Award is one of the highest achievements for Queen Ethelburga's.
For the first time, the 2022 TES Schools Awards have brought together the best teachers and schools from all UK state and independent settings. The panel of expert judges includes school leaders, inspectors, and education researchers. Their objectivity, professionalism, and high standards have established the TES Schools Awards as a well-respected achievement for any school chosen as a finalist or winner.
QE is a Finalist For Two BSA Awards
Second, The Boarding Schools Association (BSA) has also announced QE as a finalist for the Supporting Excellence Awards 2022. The York school is nominated for the Supporting Junior Boarders Award and the Most Original Activity During National Boarding Week Award. Held for the first time in 2018, these awards celebrate the achievements, hard work, and dedication of schools and individuals in boarding.
Muddy Stilettos Recognises York School
Third, the York school made its mark in the inaugural Muddy Stilettos School Awards by earning a finalist spot in the Outstanding Pastoral Care category. The organisers chose the judges, among the most highly respected senior educators in the UK, for their expertise and passion across the awards categories.
Also, Queen Ethelburga's received five Highly Commended accolades for Happiest Boarding School, Originality in Teaching Music and the Arts, Giving Something Back, Special Sixth Form, and Empowering Young Entrepreneurs. Muddy Stilettos will announce the winners at an awards ceremony on 14 June 2022.
Finally, Lord Lexden presented The Lexden Prize for 2021 to Cyrus Zarrebini, Queen Ethelburga's Head Boy for 2021, in early May in London. Cyrus and QE Principal Dan Machin toured Parliament, attended a daily sitting where the Government was challenged by the Lords, and had afternoon tea in the Lord's Dining Room. The Independent Schools Association (ISA) awards The Lexden Prize as a prestigious accolade for the most remarkable sixth form student.
Congratulations to the students and staff across the York school!
