Basketball at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate
Play basketball as part of PE or compete at the county level with Queen Ethelburga’s Performance Sports Programme.
Everyone can get involved in basketball with plenty of opportunities to play during lunchtime, after-school or train to compete at a professional level.

Train To Be A Professional Basketball PlayerBasketball at Queen Ethelburga’s has grown exponentially since it was introduced seven years ago. We are now one of the top academies in the country with students competing at a senior level in the invitation-only Academies, Basketball League and English Schools’ Competitions across different age groups.

Team QE Basketball Academy
In addition to academy competitions, QE is one of a few select schools that boasts a national league club, composed primarily of students from a single school. The opportunity to compete at club-level is in association with Team QE Training Academy, who compete in the National Basketball League and are in the North Premier Division.
With the recent addition of both U16 and U14 teams, the Training Academy now also compete in the North Conference of the National League. This means students in King’s Magna Middle School can compete at a similar level to our senior teams.
Performance Sport Programme
The Performance Sports Programme (PSP) is available from Year 7 for those wishing to improve their basketball through individually tailored programmes, small group development sessions and dedicated strength and conditioning. Basketball is heavily represented in the curriculum school-wide and is supported by after-school and lunchtime activities for every player from novice to elite.
Through a combination of wor strength and conditioning facilities and personalised skill sessions during school time, QE offers the developmental focus that enables all athletes to reach their goals. This is supplemented by after-school team training sessions concentrating on tactical improvement and match preparation.
