Academic Curriculum at Queen Ethelburga’s College
QE College builds upon the founding characteristics of Chapter House and King’s Magna.
As a College student you will be curious, keen to play to your strengths and excited by the prospect of an intensive learning experience that will push you to be the best that you can be with the gifts that you have.
Excelling in your academic subjects
A College student never takes the road well-travelled. They are mountaineers who choose the steepest edge but reap the greatest rewards. The school offers a traditional academic route of GCSE and A Level where students are expected to be highly aspirational and make outstanding academic progress.
"Teachers have secure subject knowledge and know how to convey it so that pupils are encouraged to learn. As a result, pupils of all ages readily engage in their lessons and make progress well."

Support And Staying On TrackThere are three assessment points throughout the year to track progress. Heads of Year and Curriculum Leaders will use the assessment results to ensure students receive the best exam support. Outside of lessons, there are ‘Study Skills’ sessions, lunchtime or after-school support clinics, and access to 1:1 support with teachers through Microsoft Teams.

QE Study Toolkit
Changing revision from a chore to a habit; the QE Study Toolkit teaches students how to revise efficiently. 27 students from QE College are revision ambassadors and work with younger students to help them identify revision techniques that work for them.
Psst...Did you know we have another senior school for Key Stage 4 and 5?
QE Faculty offers a pathway to your future based on your strengths and interests. Faculty offers a wider selection of subjects, with the option to take BTECs as well.
