Queen Ethelburga’s Celebrates Sixth Form Results for 2023
Students, staff and parents are celebrating today, following exceptional achievements on A Level and BTEC Results Day 2023.
QE has two senior schools as well as their prep and middle schools, on their modern, well-equipped campus, which is close to York, Harrogate and Leeds, in Thorpe Underwood. This allows for a high level of personalised care and guidance for all students, and an innovative curriculum model to suit each individual. Across the two schools the combined percentage of A*/A grades at A Level today is 79.4%, with the percentage of BTEC Distinction* and Distinction grades in QE Faculty reaching 76.2%.
This year has seen students aim high with a wide range of first choice university places achieved at Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, Durham, King’s College London, University College London, and Bath, amongst other excellent UK and worldwide universities.
Head of QE Faculty at Queen Ethelburga’s, Lauren Blakeley, said:
"It has been a real privilege to work with our amazing Year 13 students throughout their time at QE, be that over the last two years or in some cases as long as 15 years. They are a remarkable cohort, who we are proud of not just for the academic achievements that we have seen today, but also the people that they have become. Their contributions to the school community have been truly exceptional and we are confident that they will go on to great things in their futures. They have helped to shape the Faculty into the incredible school that it is today, a place where you can excel academically, whilst also having the opportunity to invest time into their other talents and interests.
As a team we want to wish them every success in all that they do beyond QE be that at university or on their apprenticeships, and remind them that whether they are in the UK, America, Hong Kong or anywhere else in the world we are still here to offer any support they need as they settle into the next chapter of their lives.

As our students embark on the next phase of their educational journey, they are not only armed with exceptional academic achievements but also equipped with the skills they will need for successful future careers.
During their time in the College, this year’s leavers have made significant contributions to our community, serving as ambassadors, prefects and taking part in the wide and varied co-curricular opportunities available to them at QE, particularly in the creative and performing arts. I look forward to hearing about our students’ continued achievements and contributions in the years to come and wish them every success for their bright futures."
