Queen Ethelburga's Launches Senior Holiday Camp For 2024!
Following the tremendous success of Camp QE, a holiday camp for ages 5 to 13 organised by Queen Ethelburga's, the camp is thrilled to announce the launch of two new camps tailored for children in Years 1 to 7 and Years 7 to 11.
Camp QE began six years ago as a multi-activity themed day camp and has since expanded into a residential holiday camp. It offers an incredible array of indoor and outdoor activities, including sports, team games, crafts, and baking. Each week, the camp adopts an exciting theme, ranging from 'QE-lympics' to theme parks and fantasy worlds. This variety ensures that every child finds something they love, with a perfect blend of adrenaline-pumping activities like rock climbing and assault courses, alongside more relaxed options such as snooker and table tennis.
Thoughtful Planning and High-Quality Facilities
The camp's organisers meticulously prepare the timetables in advance, allowing parents and children to select their preferred days. Chris Simpson, the Director of Camp QE, emphasised the camp's commitment to providing an immersive experience:
"We strive to provide the most immersive camp experience for each child by introducing them to a multitude of sports, games, and activities. We expose them to high-quality, professional sports facilities and instructors so they can get the very best experience out of their summer. We're lucky to have such great facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, climbing wall, and activity centre that allows us to offer such variety with our timetables."

An Award-Winning Holiday Camp
The growing success of Camp QE is evident from the accolades it has received. In January, Little Vikings, a guide to the best of York, awarded Camp QE the Best Holiday Club award, a testament to the camp’s creativity and the dedication of its team to create unforgettable holiday adventures for children.
To further enhance their offerings, the team is launching two new camps: Camp QE Junior and Camp QE Senior, catering to different age ranges.
Camp QE Junior: This camp will continue to offer a diverse range of activities, including crafts, baking, and team sports, similar to the original camp's offerings.
Camp QE Senior: Focusing more on sports, this camp will provide older students with access to the school's extensive leisure facilities.
Upcoming Camp QE Senior: Tribe Wars
Camp QE Senior will debut from August 12th to 16th, 2024, with the thrilling theme of 'Tribe Wars.' Participants will join tribes and engage in a week-long competition featuring activities like Capture the Flag, Escape Room Challenge, Den Building, Scavenger Hunt, Inflatable Obstacle Course, and Ultimate Frisbee. The week will culminate in an exciting final showdown and a camp-wide party on Friday. It’s the perfect holiday camp for active high schoolers looking to enjoy fun yet competitive sports like tennis, basketball, netball, dodgeball, and football while forming new friendships in an encouraging environment.

Camp QE offers fun and exciting multi-activity day camps throughout the school holidays. Located at Thorpe Underwood Estate between Harrogate and York these camps are ideal for keeping children entertained during the holidays. What’s more? They accept childcare vouchers, tax-free childcare payments, and offer sibling discounts.
All camps run from 9:00 to 16:00, with free wraparound care available from 8:00 to 17:30. Hot lunch, drinks, and snacks are all included in the price. Whether your child is a current student at QE or not, they are welcome to join Camp QE this summer.
